Fair Trade Cafe

The Fair Trade Coffee Company Cafe is one of a series of prominent and competitive cafes located within the first block of Glebe Point Road. Nestled alongside the institutional cafe Badde Manors and opposite the bustling, trendy Clipper Cafe FT certainly has enough competition. What distinguishes FT from the rest in this cafe laden locale is its' comfortable atmosphere and ethical approach to business.

The interior of FT boasts a tastefully decorated terrace shopfront. Original artworks adorn the walls whilst comfortable recycled lounges and tables are generously spaced to provide a groovy ambiance. The extra capacity of FT makes it an ideal candidate when the other local cafes are packed to the rafters.

The food and coffee at FT is consistently delivered at a high level. The diverse menu offers delicious cultural highlights including Moroccan Lamb and Nasi Goreng. My personal favorite however is the Portuguese chicken burger. The lashings of sauce and fresh organic eggs combine nicely to satisfy both elegance and indulgence in your palate. Sacred Grounds Organic Coffee provides the beens and their pedigree is easily detectable. The FT Baristas serve up a large latte to match any of their competitors and conform to the high standard of the area. Perhaps it tastes a little better knowing that the profits are supporting ethical procurement and production in developing Nations.

The Fair Trade Coffee Company rates 4 beans out of 5.

Thai On Wok

Thai On Wok is a tiny, busy Thai joint on Glebe Point Road. This is my
first time here but I've heard great things. I've ordered an ol'
classic Pad Thai with pork. Let's wait and see. Though I don't think
it'll be a long wait.

A Little on the Side

Beef Burger Special! Awesome. A little on the side is a real favourite
of ours. The Campos coffee is great, the specials are always exciting
and the regular menu has a lot to offer. The cafe's small and can be a
bit tricky to find in the back streets of Redfern but well worthwhile
once you find it.

Thai Riffic

The Food

I had the Chicken Cashew Nut stir fry from the lunch specials menu. Very generous serving size and well presented. What let this meal down was the quality of the chicken. It was too stringy for my liking.

The atmosphere

The restaurant is one of the most spacious on King Street and the decor is warm and relaxing. However, the Thai pop/ American pop punk music can get annoying.

Overall it was an enjoyable lunch and no doubt we will be back.

Thai Riffic rates 3.5 Woks out of 5.

Duck & Swan - Chicken Burger Update

The chicken burger was quite tasty. Sweet chilli sauce, mayo and some
strange crsipy onion flakes. The chicken breast was a bit weak bit
overall a filling lunch meal.

Ambiance in the D&S is ok. Simple. And the local barflies don't seem
to mind the intrusions of outsiders coming in for lunch in the deck.
Fail on the 2WS fm though.

Duck & Swan

Just ordered at the D&S. The beers are cold and the courtyard's warm.

D&S is close to The Rose but more for locals. I've ordered the chicken
burger special. Update soon.
